Avoiding Malicious Software – How to Stay Safe

2011
04.18

There is some terrible software out there, so I thought I’d mention this.

If you are trying to find out how to burn xbox 360 games, and you see some advertisements for free software to get it done, I would be really weary about that.

A lot of that software is actually viruses and other malicious programs that are just trying to hijack your computer, or even get your credit card information to steal your identity.  There are other viruses which can destroy your Xbox too.

Here’s an example:

Some of the bad software will actually let you copy a game or something, but once you put the new game in the Xbox, there will be a virus on there that will ruin it.  It’s just bored, terrible people online, who have nothing better to do.  Avoid them at all costs.

The Keys to Staying Safe

When trying to burn an Xbox game, it’s usually better to go with some software which will get the job done properly.  You might have to pay $10 or $20 for it, but it’s worth it.  Instead of buying a few hamburgers, or a pizza, you can just get the software that will let you copy any game that you wish, over and over again.  (There is no limit to how many games you can burn.)

The good software also works for PS3 and Wii, so you can even lend it to your friends so that they can backup their software too.

All in all, treat this like you would any delicate situation.  Don’t hang out on any sites that look a bit bad, and don’t download anything that you aren’t 100% sure about.  If you do then you are just begging for a virus, and that’s probably what you’ll get.

How to Copy Xbox Games Without Getting a Virus

Now for the good part.  If I say there are tons of viruses online, how do you copy Xbox games without getting one?

Well, you only go with the software that is tried and tested, and recommended by reputable people.  That’s really the only way that you can be sure you will get something of high quality.  Checking reviews is something that should be second nature to all of us now, because of all the scams that are running rampant online.

Once you follow the golden rule of checking reviews before, you shouldn’t have a problem.  If the company that made the program has a good reputation and is in good standing with the people who are using it, then you’re good to go.  From there you can give it a download and see how it works for you.

I hope that this post helps a bit, even at the least to create some awareness.  Be careful of what sites you go to and what software you download.

In the next post I will have a full review of the best program to use when trying to burn Xbox 360 games, so look out for that.

Good luck!

The Basics of Burning Xbox 360 Games

2011
04.16

It used to be a lot harder to burn Xbox 360 games, but now it’s pretty easy.  Generally what you need is some software, a blank disc, and a burner that can properly transfer the files and data that’s on your game.  That’s it.  Luckily for us, we really don’t have to do anything ourselves, except get & install the software that will automatically do it.

The main thing that you have to make sure of is that the software you’re getting is legitimate.  There are tons of malicious and bad programs out there that are posing as helpful files, and there are quite a few of these in this Xbox area of the internet.  So finding a Xbox burning software program that is legitimate is really important.

Once you do that, it’s really simple.  Here’s what you have to do:

As soon as you install the Xbox burning software, you’re good to go.

Input your game into your CD / DVD drive and let it load up.

Then, start the software and let the program upload everything into your computer’s memory (There’s an easy button for this.)

After that, you might have to tell it where to save the data if it’s a huge game.  This is common, just choose somewhere that you will remember easily, like your desktop.

Finally, enter a new blank CD into your drive and have the program write the files to it.

That’s it.  After that you will have a brand new copy of your Xbox game, AND you will also have a copy of it on your computer if you want to keep that there.

The benefits of having the game on your computer is that you can burn it over and over in case you keep on losing or messing up the one that you’re currently playing.  It’s a really easy way to make sure that you don’t have to re buy the game.

You know how the store always tries to sell you insurance for the games?  Don’t do it – just make a backup copy for yourself.

Instead of paying the 5 bucks or whatever it is, you can easily make copies and back them up.  Even if you smash a game in half, you have extra ones.  Now that’s real “insurance.”

That’s really the basics of burning Xbox 360 games.  We kind of went off track for a bit, but that’s all there is to it.

The same goes for Wii games, Playstation 3 games, and even PC games.  You can generally use the same software for all of these.  Again, just make sure that it’s a reputable program with a good reputation.  Once you know it’s safe, go ahead and make copies of all of your games.

If one day, down the line, you mistakenly spill Pepsi or Coke on your disc, don’t worry – you got backups on your computer!

Good luck, and I’ll update this with another post soon with a great software program that I recommend
